About the hints and explanations: by a hint, we mean a suggestion about how to start a problem, but does not go all the way in solving it. You can ask to see the hint for each problem, before you answer it. By an explanation, we mean a complete explanation about how to arrive at the answer. You can ask to see the explanation for each problem, after you answer it. If you see the explanation, that will show the hint also, since the explanation often uses the hint in solving the problem.

You can use this On-line Practice Exam for two purposes: (1) assessing your knowledge in the areas tested, and (2) learning or relearning the content. Be aware that the Practice Exam does not comprehensively test all of mathematics, but only samples from domains of mathematics. Using the hints and explanations can help you learn the mathematics, but you must do additional work in each of the areas in order to fully learn each area.

One of our priorities in developing the On-line Math Tutor will be to add more problems to cover the content domains more thoroughly.
