Lab Exams:
Makeups may be allowed for extreme
and dire emergencies. Any makeup must be taken within 4 days of the missed lab meeting. Permission of the lab coordinator is required for an extension. A
makeup may be permitted only if both of
the following occur:
1. Your lab instructor must be notified of the
reason for your absence within 4
calendar days (96 hours) of your lab meeting. Call or e-mail (aa1674@wayne.edu)
your GTA directly or leave a message at 577-2873 (you must know your GTA’s
first and last names). You must include your phone number for
faster communication. You must
print your e-mail to provide documentation indicating the day and time of your
communication in case it is lost in cyberspace. If you do not receive a response within 96 hours, it is your
responsibility to make additional contact before the 4 day time limit expires.
2.
Proper formal written documentation explaining
your absence must be given to your GTA within 4 days of the missed lab (medical
billing, obituary, etc.). Photocopied
or prescription pad excuse forms will not be accepted under any circumstances.
àNote Added by Lab Instructor: Here is another make-up option: You can come to my Saturday class,
the day after the class you missed, and take a make-up test. I’ll have tests ready, just in case, so you
don’t need to notify me in advance.
You’ll sit upfront, and take the test while my class is in session:
Saturday (Feb. 23 or April 19, 10:00 a.m)., 113 State Hall.
Lab Reports:
Every student must write a report
on lab 4. If a student is
satisfied with his/her grade on that first report, a second need not be
written. Any student wishing to improve
his/her score may elect to write a second report on lab 9. Only the higher of the two will be
counted. Reports must be turned in
within two calendar weeks after the lab is performed. Late or e-mailed reports will
not be accepted under any circumstances.
A student must attend the lab and perform the activities for which the
report is written!
Weekly Quiz (Q): Comprised of nine questions generally
given at the beginning of each lab
to indicate whether a student is prepared to do the day’s laboratory
exercise. The questions will be based
on the introductory material in the written lab manual. You may use any handwritten, original
(not photocopied) notes you have
taken from the lab manual before the
start of lab, but you will not be able to use the written lab manual,
textbooks, or any other printed or photocopied materials. Students can use only their own notes and cannot share them with
any other student. Since the lowest
three scores are dropped, no make ups
will be allowed under any circumstances! Dropped quizzes are intended to
cover absences including, but not limited to, the following: emergency
illnesses, accidents (personal or vehicular), denied border crossings,
religious holidays not listed on the University’s calendar, faulty alarm
clocks, power outages, student-scheduled appointments (medical, professional,
or personal).
Any disruptive
student or one not actively participating in the day’s activities will not be
allowed to remain in class under any circumstances. Any student asked to leave class for any reason will not be
allowed to return to any lab until the next weekly class period!
Any discussion or disagreement regarding any lab or lecture
score must be clarified within 7 days of the return of that assignment – after that it is too late
– the score cannot and will not be changed!
If your lab or lecture answer sheet is altered in any
manner and turned in for a re-grade or correction, you will, at the very least,
receive a score of 0 (zero) for that assignment/test OR, at most, receive a
grade of F for the entire course. In that case, you will not be allowed
to withdraw. Please note that you are responsible for your answer sheet:
Whether you or another student alters it, YOU are responsible for it!
