  • Download this file and save it to your hard drive
  • Open file in your word processor and follow the directions in it.
  • Email the file to me as an email attachment (this is part of the directions in the file). In the Online Grade Reports, this is the FileTestSend part of the grade.
  • I will add a phrase at the bottom of the file I get from you, and email the file with the added phrase back to you
  • You open the file you get back from me, read the phrase I added, and email the phrase (not the file, just the phrase) to me. The phrase should be in the body of the email message, NOT included as an attachment. In the Online Grade Reports, this is the FileTestReply part of the grade.

  This will test that our word processors are compatible. I am using MS Word 2000.

• Email Test. The Email Test has been changed from the Syllabus, and now has only three parts (the original duplicated some messages in the File Test and did not include some important email skills)
  1. Send an email to at least two different people in the "To" line, with me being one of them. The method for sending to multiple people depends upon your email program; see me if you need help.
  2. Send an email to someone else, with me as a cc.
  3. Forward an email from someone else to me.

Web Hub note for Windows users: To save the Web Hub to your computer desktop, where it will do you the most good:

1. Click on the Web Hub link so that the Web Hub page is displayed on your computer screen.
2. Click on the "File" menu item, then "Save As..."
3. In the Save As dialog box shown below, set the "Save in:" box to "Desktop" as shown by (see steps below picture)
   
   1. Click on the down-pointing arrowhead at the right of the "Save in:" box
   2. "Desktop" is at the top of the list; if there are more choices you may have to scroll up
4. With "Desktop" showing in the "Save in:" line, click "Save."
