Background
We are all familiar enough with the Employee's Handbook, that booklet passed out to all new hires. In particular, we focus here on the Introduction to the Handbook, in which management gives its version of what working at XXX Corporation is like. Your group will write the Introduction for a

company, corporation, enterprise, family, or whatever (in general, an entity), filling either a service or manufacturing role.

Assignment

  1. Choose which type of corporation you would like to write for. No type can be chosen by more than one group. Register your choice by posting it on the Conference (not your Team conference, but the Course conference).
  2. Provide the following basic information about your Team:
    • Name of Team
    • Names of members
  3. Provide the following basic information about your company:
    • Names of Company, CEO and other chief officers
    • Sector (service/manufacturing)
    • Main service(s) and/or product(s)
    • Size
    • Social stage (First Wave, Second Wave, Third Wave or Brave New World)
  4. Write the Introduction to the Employee Manual for this company. Your company should be typical of its social stage, and your Introduction should capture the essence of what it would be like to work for such a typical company in that stage of society. While this obviously requires care and thought, it is also obviously an opportunity for humor and satire, and... who knows, maybe even revenge(?).
  5. Email this information to the Instructor, who will post it on the course Web Site (in addition to grading it).
