   4. Joe Horvath and Bill Snellings - I have used your nicknames on the links to personal web pages. If you want your full name instead, let me know. If I don't hear a complaint, I will change to nicknames for your pictures also.
   5. AGS 3360: You really have to start your online order forms as soon as possible. After you get them done, there are more steps to follow! Contact me if you have any doubts about the need to start this now, or how to do it.
2. Quiz
   1. I will email quizzes back tomorrow
   2. Answer whole question - if you don't understand what part of a question means, ask
      1. Question 2 - what is the name of the item (URL / path)
      2. Question 3 - how (Internet) information transported using LAN, IP, gateway and router
      3. Question 4 - at least two different or contrasting opinions
3. Reminder of what you should be doing online on a regular basis -- these are part of the grade
   1. Signin, from the lab, only on days for the class(es) you are taking
   2. Weekly course report (if you are taking both classes, a single report will do)
   3. Conference postings (one for eCommerce, two for Computers, the Internet, and Society, three if you are taking both)
   4. Not required, but do it anyway - check your email on at least a weekly basis. Don't have email: use hotmail - it's easy and free. See me if you need help.
4. Turning in work electronically
   1. You are free to use either one of the following methods -- your choice
      1. Your own email with an atachment
      2. The homework electronic submission page on the course web site
   2. If you turn in more than one copy of an assignment, let me know which situation it is - do I need to say please?:
      1. First transmission was a possible mistake - wrong file or version
      2. Second transmission was for insurance, use either version
5. Uploading personal web page to web server
   1. Filename is: first initial + full last name (up to a maximum of eight characters including initial) + .htm
      1. David Bowen ==> dbowen.htm
      2. Jane Williamson ==> jwilliam.htm
   2. Go to upload link
      1. User Name is internet
      2. Password is stustu
      3. Leave Destination Web Site at "all"
      4. Click Browse button, navigate to folder where web page is, highlight it, click Open button. This will put the path to the web page in the text line to the left of the Browse button
      5. Click Upload Now button
   3. Image filenames
      1. Problem: If you create a web page in Word and "Save As HTML..." at the end, any images will be saved as gif files with names of Image0.gif. Image2.giv, Image3.cif and so forth. If someone else does the same thing, and uploads their files, their image0.gif will replace yours, their image1.gif will replace yours, etc.
      2. Solution: Do "Save As HTML..." the first thing when starting your web page. Image files that you insert AFTER changing the format to HTML will retain their original file names (extension will be changed)

10. Change the name of the internet.mdb file that you just downloaded.
    1. The new filename should be:
       1. Your three initials
       2. ac (for Access)
       3. cf9
       4. keep extension at mdb
    2. To change the filename:
       1. Start Windows Explorer
       2. Navigate to the internet.mdb file
       3. Click on the letters of the filename to highlight the filename
       4. Wait a second or two and click again on the letters. The hgihlight will shrink to cover just the letters
       5. Edit the filename to show the new name
       6. Tap the <Enter> key
    3. You will change the database file in X and upload it afterwards

16. Turning the lab computers off
    1. Click on Start button
    2. Select Shut Down..., click OK
    3. When message appears saying it is OK to turn power off, turn off red bench switch. Leave monitor and base unit switched on
