Doris J. Pailen

Doris Pailen, is a junior and honor student in the Interdisciplinary Studies Program (ISP), maintaining a 3.57 GPA. Doris became interested in the ISP while working with the Division of Community Education (DCE). Through DCE, she became familiar with and a believer in the program through its faculty and staff.

In May of 2002, Doris was elected President of the College of Lifelong Learning ("CLL") Student Senate. Because of her position, she will also serve on the Wayne State University Student Council for the 2002/2003 academic year. In June 2002, the student council nominated Doris to be the university’s Student Representative for Board of Governors Academic Affairs Committee. Doris also serves as the President of the Theta Xi Chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society. In addition she serves on the ISP Faculty Promotion and Tenure Committee and the ISP Salary Committee. In 2001/2002, Doris was listed in the Who’s Who on the National College Dean’s List.

Besides being active on campus, Doris is actively involved in church and community activities involving both seniors and youth. Her husband, Donald, is an attorney and a minister. She has two adult children, Troy and Tami, who live and work in Washington, D.C.
